The class is contained on the communication app Discord. This allows me to be available for art critiques, technical questions, or artistic inquiry at any time at the students leisure. Each class is held on Discord's voice and video service on weekays from 5:30 to 7:30.
Only human-made art, taught by a human artist, is included in the curriculum.
The Basics of Drawing & Painting Made Interesting
In the Digital Art Workshop class, the foundations are taught in ways that ties them to advanced art subjects. For example: how do proportions apply to the portrait?
We combine foundational drawing techniques with vibrant, engaging lessons that, as the student progresses through the course, will adapt to their personal style. The interactive class sessions feature tailored guidance and real-time feedback to fuel your creativity and growth.

Emphasis on Character Illustration & Related Subjects Within
The broad scope of art subjects can all be found within Character Illustration. Portraits, animals, landscapes, still lifes, and even non-objective subjects can fall under the scope of character illustration. If the student wishes to go down the route of depicting a character in a cityscape, the subjects include anatomy, compositioning, perspective, architecture, clothing, and even character design!

Non-Invasive Paint-Overs & Encouraging Critiques
Any paint-over explanations will never affect the student's work. The process behind critique giving is uploading a screenshot of the student's work to the designated subject's channel, and then I paint over the screenshot to describe what I'm trying to explain. During all of this, the student will see my screen, so they will see in real time how I take each approach. But, they will have their original document that is free of my edits. They make the edits all on their own! For each and every finished work done by the student, every brustroke and pencil mark will remain as their work only!
But, receiving an art critique can be quite daunting, and a bad critique can squash passion. I will ensure that any and all critiques given are objective and kind, not only pointing out the areas that need to be reapproached, but also pointing out where the student applied something with great success.

This is a part of the Texture Studies lesson plan where students are challenged to strengthen their observation, value, and painting skills to recreate real life subjects (such as rocks and fabric), or fantastical, stylized subjects (such as magically suspended water).
